Cardiac Vessel CT (Coronary CT / Coronary Calcium Scoring)

Computed tomography (CT) enables the measurement of coronary calcifications or visualization of coronary arteries (non-invasive virtual cardiac catheterization). Cardiac CT provides a three-dimensional image of the heart, showing early-stage vascular wall changes. This allows precise assessment of whether plaques are fibrous, lipid-rich, or calcified, and whether they narrow the vessel.

Procedure:

The patient lies in a CT scanner for a few minutes; the actual examination lasts only seconds. Before the scan, a contrast agent is injected into a vein in the arm. This test can reveal potential coronary artery narrowings.
