Abdominal Ultrasound (Abdominal Sonography) in Vienna at our Group-Practice
Abdominal sonography, also known as abdominal ultrasound, is one of the most effective methods for diagnosing the organs in the abdominal cavity. It is a non-invasive, safe, and painless procedure that delivers critical insights into the condition of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, and other abdominal structures.

What is Abdominal Ultrasound and How Does it Work?
Abdominal ultrasound employs sound waves to create detailed images of the internal organs in the abdominal area. A specialized ultrasound probe transmits these sound waves, which bounce back upon hitting various tissues. These echoes are then captured to form real-time images of organs, offering a clear understanding of their structure and functionality.
This procedure is frequently used in our practice to detect illnesses early and to monitor ongoing treatments. It is also completely harmless as it does not involve radiation.
Which Organs Can Be Examined?
Using abdominal ultrasound, we can thoroughly examine the following organs:

The physician moves the ultrasound probe across the abdominal area to capture images, which are displayed on a monitor. The process is completely painless and typically takes about 15-30 minutes. After the examination, the gel is wiped off, and the patient can immediately resume normal activities.
